Airport Hero Wiki

Ground Control is a control frequency channel in the AH series. It is displayed yellow on the ATC panel

Control[]

Ground Control is responsible for all aircraft on the ground. It has a slightly different role in Airport Hero Narita due to the addition of Ramp Control.

Arrival[]

An arriving flight makes its way to Ground through Tower Control. When a plane lands, it will taxi off the runway and the tower will instruct it to contact Ground. The plane will contact them with the message "Ground, [Flight Number], with you". It is their job to give them a gate to go to, and to ensure they reach the gate safely. If the flight needs to hold its position, Ground Control is in charge of doing so.

In AH Narita, ground control had a slightly different job. They would still manage planes as they left the runway and on the taxiways, but when they reached the ramp of the airport, they would hand the flight off to Ramp Control. Planes will not enter the apron until the handoff is completed.

Departure[]

A departing flight will come from Delivery Control (In Narita, they will come from Ramp Control after a flight reaches the edge of the ramp). After clearing their flight plan, Departure sends them over to Ground for push back. The player needs to be careful here because this is the only time a runway can be chosen for a departing flight.

After push back, the flight needs to be cleared for taxi. After that, the plane will go on its own for a while. Ground control can tell the flight to hold its position if continuing would be dangerous. When the flight nears the runway, it needs to be handed off to the tower for takeoff clearance. Once the handoff is complete, the flight is no longer under Ground's jurisdiction.

If a flight needs to cross a runway, it will be handed off early so the tower can approve it.
